You can often see the whales from our Ocean View apartments or from a number of vantage points around Tathra. Alternatively, to get really close, you can board a Whale Watching Charter in nearby Merimbula or Eden.

The Sapphire Coast is home to a vast un-spoilt coastline, ornate forests and mountains, and home to diverse flora and fauna. Spoilt for choice there is so much to enjoy in these beautiful areas such as kayaking, fishing, snorkelling, bush walking and so much more.

Tathra is lucky to have a very dedicated team of local MTB enthusiasts, who over the years have built an extensive network of cross country MTB trails. These trails bring people from all over to ride and there is something for everyone's ability and skill level. Bungadung is the birthplace that features ~23km of XC trails, which includes Tathra’s challenging Evil Tom and Kingy’s Climb assents alongside the iconic Bridges, Anchor’s Away and Haddi Gatti descents. For the beginners, the 'School Loops' are located at the lower sections of Bungadung and are great for the whole family. The trail head is located at Tathra Beach Country club ~1km north of the Tathra township on the Tathra Bermagui Road. The trails are built on local aboriginal land and we encourage you to stay on the designated tracks and respect the environment we all share. Tathra Beach Country Club, located ~1km north of Tathra Beach House features a beautiful 18 hole, easy walking golf course that borders Mogareeka inlet (Bega river). The club also features tennis courts and a Chinese restaurant.

Magic Mountain is a family fun park situated about 20km from Tathra on Sapphire Coast Drive. Jam packed with activities to suit any age. Featuring a Rollercoaster, Waterslides, a Toboggan track, Carpet Slide, Jumping Castle, Tube Slide, Grand Prix Cars, Crazy Car, Magic Mountain Maze and Mini Golf. For the little ones we have a toddler pool playground area and toddler town.

Just up the road is the fabulous Wild Orchid café. A relaxed, contemporary cafe serving simple, vibrant seasonal food, using the best possible ingredients. Open 7 days a week for a dine in breakfast and lunch or just enjoy a takeaway coffee, smoothie or a delicious wrap or focaccia.

Tathra Beach and Bike are our local go to bike mechanics. Open 7 days a week, these guys stock everything you need to get on the trails or surf on Tathra's surf beach. Go in store to check out their great selection of mountain and e-mountain bikes available to buy or hire.

Wharf to Wharf Walk is a 27 kilometre coastal walk along rugged cliffs, spectacular headlands, secluded bays, lakes, freshwater lagoons and long, isolated beaches.

Tathra and its surrounds are renowned for its sapphire clear waters and abundance of fish and fishing opportunities. In Tathra alone, there are some fantastic spots to fish. Tathra wharf is a particularly great location, in the summer months there are some fantastic opportunities to target a range of pelagic species including Tuna, kingfish and Australian Salmon. Tathra has great access to the ocean via kianinny bay boat ramp and not to mention the Bega river that fishes well all year round with the classic NSW estuary species, such as Dusky flathead, Bream and whiting to name a few.
